Precursor to the Polls, meet the IB 2006 nominees

The first two phases of Indibloggies 2006 event, namely the open nominations and the Jury rating, are complete. Few raised eyebrows again on the process of nomination yet more than 700 nominations were made over the last 11 days. The Jury sure had a tough as well as enjoyable time browsing through the myriad flavors of writing and then rating them.

I one again thank all the jurors for not only devoting their time and effort to the process but also for staying away from the competition, your help has indeed added more credibility to the awards. The Jury zeroed in on almost 290 blogs/sites, of which about 175 made it to the short-list that would participate in the final phase of the event, the public Poll.

I don’t much care about these awards – in fact, it’s funny how everything is associated with some sort of reward these days – but isn’t it unfair to have members of the nominated group blogs on the jury? (There might be more people but at first glance, I could see Aparna, Ojas, Neha, Confused and Patrix from Desipundit and Shivam from Blogbharti.)

I think there is a case for putting up a category for business and finance blogs. Obviously I hv a self interest in that

I thought I wd be nominated for the New category since I’ve started out in Sept/Oct’06 (everybody thinks highly of himself).anyway, sigh!!!

Moreover since this forum is abt encouraging bloggers, may I request a feedback so that I can improve.

I had recently started blogging, regularly maintained and quickly accepted by my community of users of Tally Software ( i suppose). My Blog ApniTally had all the ingrediants of qualification of best topical blog but i am out?? Can any one of Jury guide me what else is needed in a topical blog so that beginners like me never flattens in first step? Or explain the guidlines of what Jury is looking in a blog while selected. I think i would miss it next year also in this situation.

Debashish, I appreciate your efforts to conduct IB awards 2006.

I know it invloves lot of effort and dedication and there would some mistakes during the process. I would like to bring some to your attention.

Why my blog is nominated under best Telugu blog? In fact it is nominated for best design blog. And also I have nominated some telugu blogs to various categories like food, poetry and technical. Even that one vote was taken into account and put under best telugu blogs. Is this a overlook or you are categorizing all indian languages into individual lanuage categories? I see most of the other categories are english blogs.
