The winning gimmick
We are overwhelmed by the vote counts in this year’s poll. However some of the categories are seeing meteoric rise in the votes for a select few blogs. We also received reader comments and mails from the nominees about this. It was thus needed that we compile the points we have been raising time and again in this post.
- We cannot afford to buy a poll software (Sparklit Poll Gold option would cost well above $100 for all the polls) and while we have been soliciting sponsors for the prizes we just cannot do so for the blog gimmicks. We thus have no option to rely on the limited functionality provided by the free version of the poll.
- The free version of the poll offers some common modes to prevent cheating during voting, cookies, IP address and Captcha blocking. Each of these has their own set of advantages and limitations. Cookie blocking would prevent multiple votes being cast from the same machine, captcha blocking can differentiate to a fair extent between man and machine. These are the two preventives we have right now for all polls. IP address blocking is a bit tricky since it can potentially prevent people behind a firewall or using a common gateway from voting, reason why we dropped this option.
- We have repeatedly stated that the ultimate aim of this blog is to showcase the outstanding blogs from across. The list of nominees is the effort that matters for us and we cannot prevent technically savvy people from playing foul. Fact remains that if somebody is adamant on tilting the votes (the science technology category has seen 600 voters while the average votes for all other categories is close to 200) we think readers are wise enough to gauge whether he deserves to win.

Calling the sponsors
Are you passionate about blogging? Do you love Indian blogs? Have you always thought about giving something back to the Indiblogger community? If yes, why not take a plunge in sponsoring awards for the 2004 Indibloggies? You may sponsor awards for one or more category and it can be anything (except cash awards)ranging from Pen to Painting to T-Shirts, Books, Gift Vouchers, Audio/Video CDs; it all depends on your budget and imagination.
And what you get by sponsoring a prize? Hmm.. obviously not a tax-exemption or better Q3 results, but may be, one or more of the following:
- Self satisfaction and may be an ego boo
- ‘Feel good’ about being associated with the Indibloggers community
- Getting recognized and (perhaps) attracting a better traffic to your blog/website
So if you wish to sponsor a prize for this year, do drop us an email at indibloggies at gmail dot com and we can discuss further on that.
Disclaimer: The onus of delivery of the prizes falls upon the prize sponsor him/herself. Indibloggies does not, in any way, take responsibility for delivering the prizes to winners, loss of prize during transit or latter non-delivery by the sponsor. Winners must communicate their complete postal address to the sponsor directly for claiming their prize(s). Sponsors are encouraged to send us thumbnail image(s) of the prize(s) that we may display on this website.

Voting Begins!
Ladies and gentlemen, the moment has arrived ! It’s time now to cast vote for your favorite blog in the following categories. Hearty congratulations to all IndiBloggers who have received popular nominations. Before we spell out few rules for the voting we have two announcements to make, firstly the undisputed IndiBlog award winners. Don’t get surprised! Two of the categories at this years awards have received single nominations by virtue of which they have been declared the deserving winners. The winners are:

Best Hindi Indiblog : Alok’s 9211 at http://9211.blogspot.com
Hearty Congratulations winners!
Another important announcement is about the prizes. We are grateful to Melodrama, Anita Bora and Meena who have generously volunteered to award prizes for the winners in few categories.
- Anita Bora would present one of her own paintings (without Frame) to the winner in the Best IndiBlog (Female) category.

We place on records our sincere thanks and appreciation for the Prize donors. There aren’t many rules here to follow, but the handful are given hereunder:
- The prizes will be distributed by the donors directly. Winners will have to notify their complete postal address either to the prize-donor or to us. Winners may also contact us to know the email address of the donor, in the former case.
- The polls are hosted by Sparklit.com for free, we would not accept any dispute regarding the same. The Polls would not allow a voter to cast a vote for a particular category more than once, however we cannot be held responsible for the adventures of technically savvy voters..
- The Polls would be open from December 10 to December 20, 2003. Results of the poll would be visible as they progress, however the final and official results would be declared on or before December 25.
- In the event of a tie, we reserve the right to arrive a decision by using our vote as the casting vote.

Link Images
Few IndiBloggers have asked us to provide images to link to, especially the nominees. As we had said earlier, we are not good at graphics, however we have come up with the following which you may use. If you have an image hosting facility available with you, kindly save these images there, because we are not sure if our free hosting service will retain it all the time. The polls are ready howver we are awaiting a reply from Sparklit, we hope to start the poll before Dec.10, 2003.
