Indibloggies 2006 ~ The Award Categories

There had been tremendous feedback on the categories from Indibloggers and we have revamped the categories this time. It’s time to bid adieu to the award categories “Indiblog with the best tagline” and “IndiBlog lifetime achiever”, the latter certainly sounded too clichéd. And, guess what, we have added five sparkling new categories.

The upcoming 2006 event of the Indibloggies would award outstanding blogs in the following award-categories:

  1. IndiBlog of the year
  2. Best Humanities IndiBlog (IndiBlogs on Humanities, covering Art/Craft, Literature, Paintings, Poetry/Fiction)
  3. Best Entertainment Indiblog (blogs on Music, TV, Movies, theater) New
  4. Best Sports IndiBlog
  5. Best Science/Technology IndiBlog
  6. Best IndiBlog directory/service/clique/network
  7. Best Topical IndiBlog
  8. Best Designed IndiBlog (Blogs with original designs or with major visible customizations to existing themes)
  9. Best Food Indiblog New
  10. Most Humorous Indiblog New
  11. Best IndiPodcast New
  12. Best Travel Indiblog New
  13. Best New Indiblog (IndiBloggers who began blogging on or after July 1, 2006)

You should also have BEST BUSINESS INDIBLOG category. Isn’t it?

Just wondering when you will be accepting nominations and a rough timeline for the event.

    Cheers.

I think that a category should only be there for the award if there are atleast 5-6(or more as per the jurors) blogs to be nominated in that category. No point in having a category when there are only 1-2 blogs in there.

As I see among a lot of my friends that blogging has become an active area of interest specially in the student crowd, I would suggest for a Student Blog category, someone who is not into a profession yet but still blogs

How about a best ‘personal’ blog? One that doesn’t deal with one specific issue, but acknowledges the fact that there are plenty of blogs out there that are not idea (or event, or hobby) specific.

And I love the idea of a Student Blog category!

Categories can also include motivational blogs, which help build ecosystems where there’s little or none – such as entrepreneurial startup ventures.

I second the Best Personal Blog category.

  • 9. Debashish | January 5th, 2007 at 5:04 am

Thanks for the suggestions. It would be difficult to please everybody; IMHO, we already have lot many categories, personal blogs could surely be classified under any of the existing categories.

I feel science and technology should be two different categories. Anyway any hint on when the nominations open?

IMHO a personal blog would be very difficult to judge!

I believe there should be a category which lists all those blog posts which highlighted national issues of importance and brought forth a unique point of view.

“personal blogs could surely be classified under any of the existing categories”. I think you are wrong…every day Indians scattered all over the globe, presenting their own trials and tribulations in unique and interesting posts….would be hard to categorize but still these account for some of the best blogs..not to recognize them would be unfair

The categories are somewhat limited. I agree, it would help to have one for personal blogs and maybe another category for awareness in different spheres from environmental awareness to self awareness.

Why not best Quizzing blog? You find umpteen quiz blogs in Indian blogosphere and so many elite quizzing groups.

I have a couple of suggestions:
    1. why not a computer/IT related category?
    2. And a student blog award sounds good, given the sheer percentage of bloggers who are students. We can maybe fine-tune it to reflect on blogging about colleges or something
    3. There are a lot of good blogs that aren’t about any one specific issue. How do you deal with those? and in most cases, they turn out to be better than topical ones.
