This document is outdated. Please click here to see the latest guide.

So you think the whole nomination process for Indibloggies 2005 is too geeky for the technically challenged. We sure can prove you wrong! Just follow the easy 5-Step no non-sense guide below and if you still find it tough, feel free to “email us your nomination” and we will do it for you, no questions asked.

Step 1

Step 2
Step 1: Login to your del.icio.us account and click on the "post" link as indicated above by the red-arrow.   Step 2: Type-in the URL or web-address of the blog or site you wish to nominate as shown above. Click "save". Leave this web-page open.

Step 3

Step 4
Step 3: Open a new browser window or tab and go to the Tag-generator website. Select the appropriate award-category.   Step 4: Copy (Ctrl+c on Windows) the "tags" generate by the tool for you. Don’t make any changes in this tag text.

Step 5

Step 5: Go back to the del.icio.us page we left open in Step (2). Fill in the Site Title (compulsory) and the reason you are nominating it (optional). Paste the "tags" we generated (Ctrl+v on Windows) in Step(4) on the "tags" field as indicated by the arrow above. Press "save" and you are done.

I click the link e-mail-your-nominations, copy pasted the URL I want to nominate, clicked the link send, and Bingo! My choice nominated!

That is what I wanted in first place. A totally hassle free nomination process; where a very-very anonymous person can nominate without need to register anywhere!

    Thanks!

    Ravi,

While this may be very easy for you, think of the hard work Debashish has to put in to read these emails, extract the URLs and the category details and add it into the queue. The del.icio.us method makes it a bit more easy for the poor guy :)

I assume that you guys are using a database like MySQL or PgSQL to store the nominations. So instead of having a script to email you the nominations, you could’ve instead put together a script that could’ve taken input from a form & inserted nominations directly in the database. Wouldn’t have taken more than an hour to put together such a script in PHP(JSP also wouldn’t have taken long but I haven’t used it in abt 2 years so can’t say).

IMHO that would’ve been quite appropriate instead of having nominations derived from del.icio.us as some people who don’t have accounts there would’ve to register(like me) & then see how that thing works.

And won’t such people like to thank me to introduce them to this wonderful free online tool? :)

Oh! come on, I was just putting my views, and thought that nomination process must be plain vanilla, one click affair :)

And, don’t worry, I had already nominated through del.icio.us !

that’s just a point of view Debashish. Maybe (some)people won’t thank you(like me) for introducing this tool since they already knew about it & didn’t register as they don’t have any use for it till yet!! :)

You’re right Amit and we are all entitled to act according to our POV, isn’t it? I am sure you will soon find some use for the tool, like I used it for this innovative purpose.
